Minds that think...
At Northside Catholic Academy, student life is about more than just academics. Our goal is to educate the whole child—intellectually, socially, physically, and spiritually. We offer a wide range of experiences that help students grow in confidence, curiosity, responsibility, and self-awareness—while also having fun.
Hearts that love...
The NCA House System is one of our newest initiatives, introduced by our Dean of Students, Patrick Lambert. Each student has been sorted into one of four houses—Acutis, Cabrini, Tolton, and Day—named after inspiring figures who embody important virtues.
Students gather with their House for special activities, games, and Mass throughout the school year and on designated dates. These events are designed to build a stronger sense of belonging and responsibility, while fostering friendships across grade levels. Older students have the opportunity to mentor younger ones, creating meaningful relationships and ensuring that every child has trusted connections within our community.
Our next House Day will be Thursday, September 24, and include story time, gym games, arts & crafts, and free play both at school and at Senn Park. Led by our dedicated house leaders and teachers, it’s a day filled with fun, teamwork, and school spirit.
Parent volunteers are essential to making House Day a success! If you’d like to help, please reach out to Patrick Lambert for more details.
Hands that serve...
We believe today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders. At NCA, students take part in service and leadership opportunities that help them grow in compassion, develop a sense of responsibility, and become confident, respectful leaders both in and out of the classroom. These include:
- Leading classroom activities and group projects
- Participating in school Masses and performances (by third grade, students may have performed in 12 school events and read at Mass at least 7 times)
- Practicing public speaking regularly to build confidence and poise
Giving back is an important part of our school culture. Throughout the year, NCA students participate in service projects that support both local and national causes. Some recent examples include:
- Collecting food for the St. Ignatius Food Pantry
- Supporting Care for Real, Housing Opportunities for Women, and the Red Door Animal Shelter
- Participating in national organizations like Cradles to Crayons and Catholic Relief Services' Rice Bowl
Service is also woven into our curriculum, with age-appropriate service activities and field trips offered at every grade level.
Students in grades 6–8 can join the NCA Student Council. Elections are held each fall, with 8th grade students serving as officers and each homeroom electing two representatives.
Student Council members:
- Organize donations for neighborhood services
- Plan student-led activities and school-wide projects
- Serve as NCA Student Ambassadors during Admissions Open Houses and school tours
These experiences help students grow into thoughtful, engaged leaders—ready to make a difference in high school and beyond.
