What you need to know

Volunteers are a vital part of the NCA community—supporting everything from field trips to classroom help. All registered families are asked to complete 20 service hours each year, and many of these opportunities involve working directly with students.

To volunteer with children, you must be VIRTUS-compliant, as required by the Archdiocese of Chicago. It is our responsibility as parents and caregivers to ensure a safe environment for our children & youth. This 1-hour (or less) training and required background check will allow you to participate in events and volunteer opportunities at NCA. Everyone who participates at NCA, including staff, faculty, coaches, and caregiver volunteers are required to complete this training every 3 years to stay compliant.

Steps to complete VIRTUS training

  1. Create a VIRTUS account. Visit the VIRTUS website and select First-Time Registrant. If you already have a VIRTUS account, sign in here.
  2. Complete a background check. This is done within your VIRTUS account. Be sure to verify via the follow-up email.
  3. Submit a physical copy of the CANTS 689 Form to the school office.
  4. Attend a VIRTUS training session. Submit your completion certificate to the office (and keep a copy for yourself).

  8. Sign the Standards of Behavior. This is done in your VIRTUS account.
